Compliant storage and rental solutions for Germane (GeH4). EPA, OSHA, and NFPA guidance for containment, segregation, and fire protection — with rental buildings matched to this material.
Germane is the chemical compound with the formula GeH₄, and the germanium analogue of methane. It is the simplest germanium hydride and one of the most useful compounds of germanium. Like the related compounds silane and methane, germane is tetrahedral. It burns in air to produce GeO₂ and water.
GASES UNDER PRESSURE - Compressed gas ACUTE TOXICITY (inhalation) - Category 2 SPECIFIC TARGET ORGAN TOXICITY (REPEATED EXPOSURE) (blood system, kidneys and liver) - Category 2
Dry Chemical fire suppression is recommended for Germane
Guidance: Dry Chemical fire suppression is generally recommended for Germane (GeH4). *Please consult your raw material manufacturer's safety data sheet (SDS) and your local authority having jurisdiction to verify the most adequate fire suppression extinguisher for your specific storage or use.
Additional extinguishing notes: SMALL FIRE: Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol-resistant foam. LARGE FIRE: Water spray, fog or alcohol-resistant foam.
Always confirm extinguishing agents against the manufacturer SDS and your authority having jurisdiction before specifying a rental building fire-suppression package.
Compliant storage and rental solutions for Germane should account for its listed hazards (Flammable Gas Category 1), climate control needs (keep temperature from exceeding 52°C/125°F), and segregation requirements. Conditions to avoid Avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame). Do not pressurize, cut, weld, braze, solder, drill, grind or expose containers to heat or sources of ignition. Do not allow gas to accumulate in low or confined areas. Incompatible materials: Oxidzers
Review NFPA 30 flammable liquid storage requirements and Fire-rated chemical storage rental when designing fire rating, containment, and building selection.
Properties: Melting/Freezing point: -165°C (-265°F Boiling/condesation point: -88.5°C (-127.3°F)
